Shaving a C10: Elevate Your Build
Today we are shaving the C10. Welding up the holes in a vehicle can give it a clean, one-off look.
One of my favorite mods on a vehicle by far. I will say that less is more when it comes to shaving lights, handles, etc off of a vehicle.

5 Beginner Brake Job Mistakes...Do you still make these mistakes?
Do you have to get the box programmed
@@brianhnatyshyn2939 nope
Great video appreciate your time making it. What are the dimensions of your stand? Thanks
AC won't work after radiator change on '19 duramax. Apparently its an "electrical issue" they said.
@chrisn5079 could be the plug for the A/C compressor. I'd look to see if it's unplugged or cracked or if one of the wires is broken. Also check the fuse.
Good Job young man, got me through another fix it.
Stupid is watching this halfway through, need that O-ring now
How did you get the lower part of the shout out is there both holding it in place?
Is there a bolts holding the bottom shroud in place I can’t seem to get the radiator out and the bottom shout out of the way
Where you get the metal mesh from?
Very bad video
Hi, the plastic ring that sits on top of the rubber o-ring is called what?
Get rid of the music so we can hear you
The best video🎉🎉🎉
I use old aluminum window screen and a wood burning tool with a flat paddle, just make sure your plastics are from the same family. Check the recycling number if available.
When my mechanic told me that plastic fuel tank fill neck was welded onto the tank I thought he was trying to pull a fast one over me. Now I guess he was right.
Also, your headlight is $200?? That's rare nowadays. Mine would be over $1000 for one without any bulbs in it, so account for another $500 for both sides.(I'm not replacing a housing without new bulbs and I'm not replacing one housing at a time) So you could potentially have saved someone in my position $2500 + labor. 👏👏👏
You're absolutely right.
Sir, monkey see, monkey do. You can't do it bare handed, then tell people to wear gloves. It's unprofessional. Just wear gloves. Lead by example. Great video!
Great Video man, Thanks. How did it help the cooling?
Made all the difference. There was definitely sediment in the old radiator.
😂 great video
Thank you so much! Off to repair an internal panel I broke when installing a reversing camera.
This is a project I want you to tackle. I hope I can do it. Wish me luck.
Bought a plastic weld kit for a headlight bucket. It's $600 from the manufacturer... But the truck is a 1984 model and the bucket is discontinued and not even made. But with a quick plastic weld it's up and running as good as ever
Nice! Love hearing this!
I am preparing to replace cab corners and one rocker on my 72 GMC. As this is a first for me, I was looking for a good video tutorial. Well, I found a great one! You explain very well! Thank you!
You'll do a great job!
What if its an automatic
Thanks so much!! I didn’t have to take my air bag and steering wheel off like most of the videos said to do!!
Glad you found the easy way!
What size torques head screws? Can’t see them on my 2011 duramax 3500wt.
T20 or t25. I can't remember exactly
@@youbreakityoufixit9594 My 2011 ended up being t30.
I believe they were the bigger T-30. Often used in automotive applications.
why not use a small punch out piece of metal to weld !?
Lovely work Jim. Sending huge respect from Australia!
Thank you! Make sure you stick around. I've got some pretty fun stuff coming up
Awesome video! Very well done!
Thanks man! I put a lot into these.
How many miles before it failed
It had 98,000 miles when it failed
Copy thanks.. I have 110,000 on mine. Maybe I should look into getting one
@@davidcoffield4059 might be smart. Way easier to fix in your garage then on the side of the road.
what year DMax? Belt removal should be somewhat different depending on the year you are dealing with!
So glad I happened upon this video! I recently acquired a '74 C10 that is in really good shape overall, but when I pulled out the carpet yesterday I found lots of old repairs along with some painted-over rot in the floorboards and inner rocker panels. I have yet to go over all the sheet metal in the area, but I'm sure I'll find more that needs attention. Thanks for all the helpful instruction!
Make sure you hit that subscribe button. I have a ton of other restoration/hotrod stuff coming. Don't be scared of those floors. The sheet metal is cheap and they're pretty easy to replace.
@@youbreakityoufixit9594 Now I just gotta learn how to weld. Can't be that hard, right? ;-)
@@youbreakityoufixit9594 in my truck, the outer rocker panels are good, but the inner panels are rusted out. Any advice on how to go about replacing the inner rockers without wrecking the outer panels? I'm trying to avoid having to repaint the truck, but that may not be possible.
@@ronjennings7533 is the floor rusted out too? you can just cut out the rust spots and make panels just big enough to cover the area and be as conservative with cutting as possible. If the floor and the hinge pillar aren't rotted you could just leave it and repair it when it absolutely needs to be. No sense in taking a truck off the road that doesn't need to be.
@@youbreakityoufixit9594 the floor WAS rusted out, but it was "repaired" using an old real estate sign from the 70s. I wish I could post a pic with this comment, because it's really amusing. It seems the previous owner replaced some of the exterior body panels, but simply painted the inner parts with rust converter. The rocker panels are only 50-60% there. I can probably leave it for the time being, then address it when I'm ready to repaint it. That won't be for a year or two yet, and I'd rather be able to drive it between now and then.
Will this work on a 71 Cadillac?
It sure will
Excellent video, thank you for sharing this info and skill! Love it. Very much appreciated Sir!
Thank u so much my Tacoma 01 has. 235.000 over due 👍👍👍
Thank u. Awsome video
Thanks for the video. There is a small hose that runs to the top of my radiator. That hose is held to the radiator by a tube (?) extension out of the radiator. You slip the hose over this "tube extension" and clamp it into place. That tube extension has broke. I have both pieces. Can I just just melt both broken ends and push this together to fix this tube extension?
That's a tricky one. There's a lot of heat and pressure at that joint. You could use a two part Epoxy like "JB Weld". Also , some radiators are pretty cheap where it might be safer and easy to just buy a new one
Where is the Hyrdo fluid fill port?
Thank you!!!!
What a shit video
Boss you think you'll be able to plastic weld a plastic intake tube mine is cracked and leaks air bad😢 and I literally can find another to replace or even a aftermarket part for car so I was hoping you out of all ppl would be the man
You could use JB Weld and Epoxy it. Just clean it really well first with rubbing alcohol and scuff the surface up with some sand paper
Great video bro!
Thank you!
Thank you very much.. where did you buy the New one.? Thanks again. Excelent video.
The trick is to practice on someone else's car before your own
Haha exactly
I am going to weld a ladies 'plastic' hair band that has snapped. Approx 2mm thick. What plastic do they use and what is the best welding stick type to suit if i need it?? Sentimental value!
Respirator won’t stop plastic fumes how about a fan and good ventilation you need a gas mask
Do you have to disconnect the battery before removing this?
I don't. You could do it just to be safe though
@@youbreakityoufixit9594 thanks!
@@Nielint you're welcome!
Just bought a K20. The doors don't lock, so I'm looking at how to replace the latch and see they changed it to this altman. Looks they never shortened the rod between the door handle and the latch. Thanks. your videos are very instructive.
Just pull the GMC part number off the OEM belt and order that same part number belt.
What does the red wires do to go to the two stud bolts on the fuse box
I bought this for my 2015 lml but the new o-ring wasn’t thick enough.
